Painting restoration
ancient, valuable, in poor condition, with significant losses, with imitation for a reasonable price
Hello! I’m Alex, a professional restorer who loves bringing art back to life. Whether it’s a painting, a stained glass, or an ancient fresco, I can make it look like new again, preserving the alluring energy of antiquity. I have a lot of experience in dealing with complex and delicate cases that require a high level of talent, skill and expertise. I have tackled some of the most difficult cases in the field and delivered stunning results. You can check out some of my work in the photos or in the Herboristeria del Rei in Barcelona, where I restored paintings by Francesc Soler Rovirosa (1836-1900), the perfumer’s shop from the movie The Perfume.
I have a higher education in an Applied Arts and Restoration, and I have also worked with outstanding artists and conservators in both restoration and in the creation of art objects in different studios. I am a member of such organizations as the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC) and the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (INCCO); therefore, I work in accordance with the requirements of the European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers Organizations (E.C.C.O.).
Conservation
As a professional restorer in Barcelona, I can help you preserve your art and restore it to its original appearance. Almost any painting sooner or later requires conservation, and for this purpose, a special glue is used that fills the voids, restores the plasticity of the paint layer, and holds together the damaged areas
Deep cleaning and conservation
In my restoration workshop in Barcelona, I offer services for deep cleaning and conservation of paintings. With my experience and advanced techniques, I can remove years of dust and dirt accumulation and preserve the long-term quality of the artwork. If your painting requires additional restoration, I can also assist you with that.
Comprehensive restoration
Problems with frames and canvas, such as scratches, cracks, rot, delamination, aging, woodworms or fungi, can be quickly resolved with the right approach to painting restoration. In addition, I use proven traditional techniques and quality materials to restore both antique and modern paintings to their original splendor.
Retouch
Some areas of the painting are subject to retouching, which allows the painting to return to its neat appearance. Retouching is done using a technique that is reversible if necessary and does not harm the originality of the work of art. An important point in the process of painting restoration is the selection of pigments that will not change their tone and shade over time.
Complete restoration
A complete restoration of a painting has a specific sequential plan of action that must be diligently carried out by the restorer to achieve the result. The important point is that some of these actions are not obvious and are hidden from the eyes of the owner of the painting, so I always make a photo report of the restoration process so that my clients can be sure that no stage was skipped.

Imitation of lost areas
The task of replenishing the loss of entire fragments of a painting is quite problematic, especially if there is no photo of the still intact original. The Academy of Applied Arts where I studied placed great importance on copying world-famous masterpieces and imitating the artist’s style, which is a very useful skill for a restorer. However, it should be remembered that no two strokes of paint are alike in the world.
